JESSICA BAXTER

Assistant Curator (TATE Modern, London, UK)

Jess Baxter is a curator, researcher and writer based in London. She is currently Assistant Curator of International Art at Tate Modern, where she worked on the recent A World in Common: Contemporary African Photography exhibition, as well as the monographic displays of Deana Lawson, Joel Meyerowitz and Guerrilla Girls. She is one of the Emerging Curators of the British Art Network for 2023. Publications include Lieko Shiga (2023) and an upcoming book on medieval and contemporary art practices (2024). She holds an MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute, and her curatorial interests include feminine and genderfluid spirituality, trans-temporality, and constructions of Britishness.

Damarice Amao is a photo historian and holds a PhD in art history. She is working as associate curator at the photography department of the Musée National d’Art Moderne/Centre Pompidou. She co-curated numerous exhibitions with accompanying catalogues, including Photographie, arme de classe (Centre Pompidou/Textuel, 2018), Eli Lotar (Jeu de Paume, 2017), Jacques-André Boiffard. Meaghan Looram is the Director of Photography at The New York Times. She oversees The Times’ photographic coverage, the news organization’s staff of photo editors and staff photographers, as well as many of its most ambitious visual projects. The work Ms. Looram has produced and edited has been awarded honors from World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year International, the George Polk Awards, the Overseas Press Club, the News & Documentary Emmy Awards and the Alfred I DuPont-Columbia Awards.

MIRJAM KOOIMAN

Curator (Foam, Amsterdam, Netherlands)

Mirjam Kooiman is an art historian and curator at Amsterdam's Foam Photography Museum. She has curated exhibitions featuring notable artists, such as Persijn Broersen & Margit Lukács - Point Cloud, Old Growth and Ai Weiwei and organised traveling Foam Talent exhibitions. In 2017, Mirjam facilitated collaborations with international photography platforms. Mirjam is dedicated to exploring the interplay between photography, virtual realities, artificial intelligence, gaming, and online experiences. With a BA in Art History and an MA in Curating Arts and Culture, she focuses on postcolonial approaches in the arts and museum studies. Mirjam is also a co-founder of 'De Kunstmeisjes,' promoting art accessibility. She actively participates in photography juries and contributes to various publications, shaping the art and cultural landscape.

Irene Lombardo, Cultural Project Manager at Magnum Photos in Paris, France, is a distinguished figure in the photography realm. Serving as a Journalist for Il Fotografo magazine, she also imparts knowledge as a Lecturer at Ca' Foscari University in Venice, Italy, and Spéos, Photography School in Paris. Irene's influence extends to the Fondation Jean-Luc Lagardère, where she serves as a Jury Member for the 2023 Photography Award, solidifying her commitment to shaping and advancing the field of photography.

BRENDAN MCCLEARY

Brendan McCleary is the Curator at Photo Australia and is curating PHOTO 2024’s outdoor program. He has worked with artists such as Cindy Sherman, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Thandiwe Muriu, Mohamed Bourouissa and Vasantha Yogananthan at PHOTO 2022, and Zanele Muholi, Hoda Afshar, Brook Andrew and Maree Clarke at PHOTO 2021. Previously he worked as a Producer for MPavilion, stage managed events for White Night Melbourne, Dark Mofo and Melbourne Music Week, and in 2017 worked for the Australia Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. As an independent curator, Brendan has worked with a number of Australian and international artists including Carolee Schneemann and Allora & Calzadilla.

In addition to editing Aperture magazine, Famighetti commissions and edits books for Aperture Foundation. He is a visiting critic at Yale University School of Art and works as a mentor. He is a member of the American Society of Magazine Editors and has been a guest reviewer and speaker at many international festivals and institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Vogue Italia among others.

Michael has been Director of the Belfast Photo Festival since 2009 and initiated as well as curated numerous commissions on exhibitions of contemporary art with a particular focus on photography. He curates a varied programme of artist talks, symposiums, residencies, workshops, films and exhibitions per year, which has previously included artists such as Ai Wei Wei, Alec Soth, Roger Ballen and Robert Mapplethorpe. He nominates and judges for a number of international awards, including the ICP Infinity Awards (New York) and SIFEST (Bologna), as well as reviews internationally.
