Architectural Photo Walk: Looking Forward

Date: Sunday 23rd June

Time: 11:30am - 1:30pm

Location: Belfast Exposed Photography Gallery

The guide will discuss and illustrate the architecture in its urban and historic context. Primarily the walk will address the ways in which the buildings might be recorded. We shall both isolate detail (and texture) and photograph buildings in whole. We shall debate and seek to capture the spirit (or the grain) of the city through its buildings both beautiful and decrepit. We shall look at them as a resource from which to create abstracted images of pattern, texture and colour, the rhythmic repetition of columns, the geometry of windows, reflections. We shall photograph street art too….and graffiti. Ideally bring a camera, the camera on your phone will be fine. This tour will have a slight emphasis on optimism and forward looking, concentrating on such contemporary architecture as “The MAC” and the Ulster University campus.
