Milk and Nectar

Household Belfast

Dates: 8 - 16 June

Location: Multiple Locations Along Cregagh Road

Milk and Nectar brings together the work of seven artists who respond to economic, social and geo-political issues to create compelling alternate visual landscapes. The participating artists represent a range of approaches to photography; from the playful wooden constructions captured by Jan McCullough to the lush computer animated worlds created by Bassam Al-Sabah. This multi-sited exhibition will take place in the shops, libraries and clubs of the Cregagh Road area of East Belfast. By presenting these works embedded in a local neighbourhood, we aim to draw out how global issues can affect, and intersect with, our day-to-day existence.

There will also be an exhibition of work by pupils from Harding Memorial Integrated Primary School and Euston Street Primary School who worked with artist Jan McCullough to create new collages using the AE McAlpine photographic archive. As part of this exhibition, we will launch a new Teachers’ Resource Pack on Friday 7th June at 4pm. The artists in this exhibition are represented on UPHOLD, Household’s not-for-profit online platform for selling and promoting work made by artists working in Northern Ireland. It is made possible by the generous support of the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Belfast City Council, and Arts and Business.
