Belfast Photography Festival invited a group of Curators, Editors, Authors and Artists to share thoughts, ideas and images by artists - past and present - who work within photography to explore identity. This series of morning presentations also offers each professional an opportunity to discuss what’s on their mind in relation to current developments in photographic media. Each presentation lasts one hour with time for discussion at the end.
Kristen Gaylord Curatorial Fellow, Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) New York
Kristen Gaylord is the Beaumont and Nancy Newhall Curatorial Fellow in the Departmentof Photography at The Museum of ModernArt, where she has worked on exhibitions and publications including, most recently, Oceanof Images: New Photography 2015 (2015);One and One Is Four: The Bauhaus Photocollages of Josef Albers (2016), Arbus Friedlander Winogrand: New Documents, 1967 (2017), and the forthcoming survey of Stephen Shore and publication Photography at MoMA: 1840 to 1920. She curated the inaugural Duke House Exhibition Series at HYU’s Institute of Fine Art (2016-2017), where she has taught and published on 19th and 20th century art.
Susanna Brown Curator of Photography, Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) London
Susanna is Curator of Photographs at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), home to the UK’s national collection of the art of photography.She helps build the V&A collection, teaches, writes and curates exhibitions, most recently
Susanna has contributed to numerous booksand journals on historic and contemporary photographs. She lectures internationally andhas been an invited reviewer at festivals including
Fotofest, Houston, and the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography. Prior to joining the V&A, she worked in the photographs collection at the National Portrait Gallery, London, and studied at Bristol University and The Courtauld Institute of Art.
